Silver was born in Belgium and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. After earning his undergraduate degree at the Chicago Ohr Eliyahu Rabbinical College, he continued his studies at the Rabbinical College in Brunoy, France.
During his rabbinical training, Refoel traveled the world, leading holiday services and Jewish educational programs in communities across Italy, Morocco, Ukraine, Lithuania, France, and Switzerland. He was ordained in 2015 by several distinguished European rabbis while studying at the Rabbinical Seminary of Antwerp, Belgium. Following his marriage, he continued his advanced studies at the Kolel for Advanced Rabbinics in Brooklyn.
Chani Silver (née Pevzner) was born and raised in Paris, France. Her parents direct the renowned Institutions Sinai, a Jewish day school network that serves over 3,200 students.
Chani graduated with honors from the Beth Rivkah Teacher’s Seminary in Israel, earning her degree in Judaic Teaching. She went on to direct programs at Bnot Menachem High School in Moscow, Russia, before moving to New York in 2016 to teach at the Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School.
In September 2017, Rabbi Refoel and Chani moved to Curaçao to establish Chabad of Curaçao and serve as the Rabbi and Rebbetzin of Shaarei Tsedek.
They are the proud parents of five children: Chaya (born in New York) and Zalman, Hillel, Yehudis, and Motti (born right here in Dushi Curaçao), who can’t wait to meet you when you visit!
